Be a KNOCKOUT!
We hope that one day a picture can be worth more than just 1,000 words, but can be worth a full life span of 250,000 days or more for a person. As part of our “Be a Knockout” campaign, breast cancer patients and survivors are able to reclaim their femininity. Our photo shoots are composed of TWO shots: one with the DILAW “upside down heart” symbol and one with the pink boxing gloves. We want to knock out breast cancer! And, as a thanks for participation in the campaign, DILAW sends all participants 2–8×10 professionally printed stills of their shoot! So, DILAW & Be a Knockout & Knock out Breast Cancer…just like Bonnie, our co-president, did in hers!
Why a Photograph?
The “Be a Knockout” campaign allows breast cancer patients and survivors to SPEAK. It allows them to OWN their cancer. To say to their cancer, themselves, and everyone else: I HAVE OR HAVE HAD CANCER. So What? Look at me NOW. Look at my strength, my power, my beauty, my femininity. Look at how I am kicking cancer OUT or how I have kicked cancer OUT. How I didn’t let it kick my butt or how I’m not letting it kick mine.
Why DILAW?
Critical to the campaign, the photograph acts as a protest: a not-so silent movement to reclaim femininity by expressing the Do It Like A Woman (DILAW) attitude, which is teh cure. The photo shoot is a way for women to achieve that cure by showing off their beauty and working what they’ve got without feeling the least bit ashamed, in a platform and in a way in which they are comfortable.

Tits’ Tips: Magic Kingdom, Orlando, FL
Whether you love or hate it or love to hate it, there’s no denying the “magic” of the kingdom. And, what’s a kingdom without it’s jumbo-sized crib? In this case, that would be Cinderella’s Caste. Towering at 189 feet, the castle seems a lot larger than it really is. Thanks to forced perspective! Disney designed the park so that the buildings on Main Street are sized smaller as you approach the caste and the “bricks” of the castle are arranged from largest to smallest. Now, that’s some Disney magic, uncovered!
Tits’ Travel Tips (TTT):
- STAY LATE! The park is famous for its closing ceremonies which start at 10 p.m.–picture fireworks and a zip-lining fairy! And, while these are spectacular, what few people know about is the park’s second closing aka “The Kiss Goodnight”. During this second show, 30 min after the park closes (11:30 p.m), Cindy’s castle is bathed in different colors as music from Disney productions begins to play. On the loud speaker, a voice conveys Walt’s dreams for a place where families could come to enjoy themselves & get lost in fantasy. All of it ends with everyone’s favorite closing song (not a Journey cover), “Wish Upon A Star” before the castle goes dark and you are sent to bippity-boppity-disappear!
- OTHER TIPS:If you wish to dine inside the castle at Cinderella’s Royal Table, reservations must be made 6 months in advance…
- For the little princesses: (ages 3-12): visit the Bippity Boppity Boutique and receive a full makeover from your won personal godmother aka stylist.
- Bring your own snacks! For those with special dietary needs or even those on a diet, your options at Magic Kingdom are VERY limited. There’s a fruit stand in Liberty Square, which is sub par or you can dare to eat shrimp at an amusement park like Tits did at Tomorrowland’s Terrace Cafe–but, be careful of “protein spills” –Disney’s cleverly crafted code for vomit.
Tits’ Breast Friend Tip:
- The arm pit-breast debacle: While there is no conclusive link between antiperspirants/deodorants and breast cancer, most doctors of breast cancer patients say these sweat & smell stoppers are a no-no! At least, the kind you find in your local drugstore…Aluminum based compounds are used as the active ingredients in antiperspirants. These compounds temporarily plug sweat ducts and stop the flow of sweat to the skin’s surface.
But, let’s get a Degree (ha, ha), is it really healthy to be applying something daily that stops you up? We don’t think so! Especially something so close to your ass-kicking lymph nodes, so here are some alternatives…
My favorite of the bunch? LaVanila Healthy Deodorant in Vanilla Passionfruit found at Sephora.

Tits’ Tips: Animal Kingdom: Orlando, Fl
Our first Tits’ Tips coming to you from Orlando, FL.
Yesterday, Tits & part of the DILAW family visited Disney’s Animal Kingdom & collected valuable research about the place & of course, about your breast friends…
Tits’ Tips:
Tits’ Travel Tip: In Africa (the theme park version), in the village of Harambe which is based on the Kenyan town of Lamu, you can find Harambe Fruit Market. & while we have yet to find an actual juicing-juice place, the fruit market is the closest we’ve come! It is also an excellent place to stop for a snack! The market which is more of a cart has packaged mango halves, fresh strawberries and even Odwalla smoothies!
Looking for more of a meal? Another great eat is Yak & Yeti or Yak & Yeti Local Foods Cafe (if you are on the go)–Disney’s fine Pan-Asian cuisine. They are also great places to stop after you get your adrenaline pumping at Animal Kingdom’s Everest ride or on the River Rapids.
Tits’ Breast Friend Tip: This is a DUH! moment, but we are starting out easy…Did you know that women should perform a breast self exam (BSE) at least once month? Don’t know how? google it….or click here!
& Here’s Tits’ Pic: He’s hanging out with his new friend on the Harambe Reserve & safari ride. Careful, Tits!
Get Inspired!
STOP & smell the roses.

Somewhere in this scramble, we tend to lose ourselves in the madness and our inner wonder woman or superman dulls. So, how do we level up our superpowers & get our groove back? you LIVE.
Last week, an incredible blog post featured on Kris Carr’s Crazy Sexy Life website showed up in my inbox. It was written by Lissa Rankin M.D. and it listed the 10 Things that she had learned from People who Survived Cancer. Now, I don’t know about you but anyone whose had to face their own mortality and kicked their nemesis’ ass is a super-charged mechanism of kick ass-ery aka a top superhero (we’re talking the Avengers cast). But, the best part about this list is that you don’t have to have a cancer diagnosis to put these 10 principles into practice, EVERYONE can benefit from this action. The only prerequisite is that you have to be brave enough to live now!
Now, I am a full on practitioner of what i preach. So, last week, I went out & did some living with some help from a DILAW BOD & my best friend who was visiting (perhaps a little too much fun as I’ve been battling a cold since monday). But here are the simple ways I chose to LIVE last week & the lessons I learned:
Lesson 1: GET OUT THERE & DO SOMETHING NEW OR UNEXPECTED. YOU NEVER KNOW WHO YOU’LL COME ACROSS…

unless you are at the zoo…then there is a good chance you will come across an elephant…still, i bet you didnt expect me to go there.
Lesson 2: ENJOY A DRINK (in MODERATION) MAYBE SOMETHING YOU’VE NEVER TRIED BEFORE…OR ONE OF YOUR FAVORITES.
Lesson 3: FILL YOUR BELLY WITH SOME GOOD GRUB!

FOOD TRUCKS! We went to the food truck gathering at our local park & chowed down. A pleasant surprise for me, a vegan food truck. yum!
Lesson 4: STOP SWEATING THE LITTLE STUFF & JUST SWEAT!

Men like to workout. They also like to support their ladies. Guys, have you checked in on the health of the ladies in your life? Take an example from our BOD & young supporter & do it today.
Lesson 5: MAKE NEW FRIENDS & APPRECIATE THE ODDITIES OF LIFE.

Saturday morning, I woke up to this guy at the window. Not rare in South Florida, but still unusual. We hung out for a good half hour.
Lesson 6: GREEN UP!
Lesson 7: APPRECIATE THE ART OF SOMETHING OR SOMEONE ELSE.

I can’t play basketball, but I can take a photograph. So, I appreciate the art of the game played by someone else & do my part to contribute ![]()
Lesson 8: TAKE SOME TIME TO JUST CHILL…
Lesson 10: MOST OF ALL, TRY TO BE LESS LIKE THIS…
& MORE LIKE THIS…

It’s Raining, It’s Pouring…Don’t Leave Your Body Snoring…
It has been a rainy couple of days in South Florida, which is arguably the only time we head indoors & actually work. And, while I may be joking with that comment, rainy weather is the perfect time to cozy up with a drink and catch up on some reading.
Yesterday, I found myself on the couch with a GREAT book: Kris Carr’s Crazy Sexy Diet, but I was left wondering: What to drink? Fighting the urge to pour a whiskey on the rocks, I opted for the MUCH healthier option of The Crazy Sexy Green Guru Smoothie–& was blissed out.
& when I come across something this great, I SHARE it. So for all of you who have heard about the benefits of green juice & green veggies & all things green, BUT haven’t tried it yet–try this. It’ll leave a smile on your face.
Why do I keep using all these “happy-centric” words? Well, because this smoothie is contains natural Phenylethylamine (PEA) aka “the love chemical”. PEA is known to create feelings of attraction, excitement, or euphoria. Ever been in love? Part of that process is your PEA levels increasing making us full of (sometimes) blind optimism.
When the brain is flooded with PEA, the neurotransmitter dopamine is blocked from being deactivated and dopamine levels rise. Elevated dopamine levels are associated with increased mental concentration and a positive attitude.
So, FALL IN LOVE WITH A SMOOTHIE…its okay, there’s no judgement here–There are worse things that you could fall in love with.
THE GREEN GURU SMOOTHIE:
Ingredients:
- 1 avocado
- 5-8 romaine leaves
- 1 cucumber
- 2 ounces E3Live (optional)
- 1 cup coconut water
- 1 banana or 1-2 pears
- Stevia to taste or 1 tsp agave
Directions:
Place all the ingredients in a blender, blend until smooth…BLISS OUT!
